Marcus Garvey
This is a linoleum block print of Marcus Garvey. This piece is symbolic because this image hi lights some of his greatest achievements like creating the first black own cruise line known as the Black Starline as well as the African Black Cross long before the American Red Cross was established the crowd that assembled as he was being extradited from the us all had umbrellas because it was a rainy day. Even though this was a drab day in History I pulled his badge off his chest and celebrated his accomplishments by making it shine through the thick clouds as bright as the sun . Unfortunately I was only able to print one successful proof from the original block before it was lost I have no idea what I did with the original linoleum block
